The 80th FAIR

The Preshil fair was a bumper afternoon despite the rain. The eagle parade by our very young was enjoyed by all ages in their colourful handmade wings. Exclusive performances by Big Fela was a hit, as was the line up of other musical acts, ranging from the classic soul and r+b grooves of “Soulfeat” (an outfit from Monash Uni’s Conservatorium, led by alumni Eli Ali), to scintillating jazz, provided by a talented array of students and staff.

The community experienced the buzz of our music elective ensembles from the primary and secondary schools, as well as the engaging marimba workshops for parents and children that were led by staff member Rodney Waterman. Many people paid a visit to chill out in the Sound Lounge, while some revel ed in the delights of the Preshil Chamber Orchestra.

There was a vast array of wonderful food and refreshments, stalls, children’s activities, a haunted house, guest alumni Cameron Lee ran his ever popular workshop and exhibited his leading Green Hat Planks. There was lots to enjoy at the silent auction as well as the many other displays and Geodesic Domes. It was great to see so many people come and take a visit down memory lane and see Preshil through the ages. Thank you to all those who contributed in one way or the other.

It was nice to see Alumnae Lauren Burns author of ‘Food from a Loving Home’ a vegetarian cook book signing copies during Fair. Copies of Lauren’s book is still available for sale at the Preshil Arlington office. Proceeds of Lauren’s cook book go to purchasing seedlings for our children’s veggie garden here at Preshil which is thriving over summer.

THANk you
