Tinpan Orange raises over $11,000
An absolutely HUGE thank you to all those who contributed to our night of entertainment on Friday November 6 at the Kew Heights Sports Club.
136 people filled the venue to enjoy the evening. The highlight of the night was the absolutely beautiful music of Tinpan Orange that moved all who were there with its haunting old world cadences and rich melodies. The evening was a wonderful mix of atmospheres with the enthralled silence that accompanied the music contrasting with the riotous fun occurring between music sets associated with the night’s fundraising auction.
The bidding competition was heightened by the children who were there. Many thanks to them for their enthusiasm and the encouragement given by their parents to spend money!! Much appreciation is also given to our auctioneer, Anne Mackie, from Hocking Stuart whose energy and encouragement both in front of the audience and behind the scenes contributed toward helping make the night so successful. A separate and heartfelt thanks to Stuart Arnold-Levy for rising to the occasion as MC having stepped straight off a plane and given very little preparation.
The school is extremely pleased to announce that the evening raised $11,600 for the school. We would like to send extra special words of gratitude to Emily W from the 10s/11s who first initiated the idea with Frank and gratefully acknowledge our generous donors.
We will keep you informed about the projects toward which the money will be directed.
Nursery school sensory garden
A big thank you to everyone who came along to the Traffic School event on November 4. All had such a lovely time and the children seemed to enjoy themselves too!!!
Much thanks also to Glenferrie Gourmet Meats (720 Glenferrie Road Hawthorn) who very kindly donated all the excellent sausages. They do terrific meat and love Preshil, so next time you are shopping in the area, pay them a visit and let them know your children attend the school.
Not only did we cover all our costs, but we also made $60 profit. Fantastic result!! This will be donated to the Nursery School to help with its sensory garden.
The ‘Leaping Goat’ Olive Oil fundraiser
Initiated by the 10s/11s for rebuilding the menagerie at Arlington, this fundraiser is ongoing and would make a lovely Christmas gift idea.
If you would like to place an order, forms are available at both the Arlington Office and the Cottage. Forms are collected every Friday. For any queries please contact Cathie Lindholm on her new email address on the form.
