Australian Mathematics Competition: Preshil shines!!
By David Main
Head of Mathematics, Blackhall/Kalimna
Congratulations to all of our students who entered the AMC (Australian Mathematics Competition). Hundreds of thousands of students from 42 countries world-wide entered what has become the largest competition of its kind in the world.
Elliot Johnson achieved the outstanding distinction of winning a State Prize. This is only awarded to students whose results are in the top 0.3% of the state’s results.
Elliot has received an Australian Mathematics Competitions Prize winner’s lapel medallion and a cheque.
Students at Preshil are encouraged to enter the AMC to experience the challenge of a wide variety of questions often requiring ingenuity and perseverance. Questions give rise to interesting and spirited discussions later in class when different methods are often discovered.
The experience of each student is valued and all of our students who entered deserve praise. Their results were well above the state averages.
