Preshil’s VCE Biology Students
Our VCE Biology students attended the 2015 Graeme Clark Oration on Tuesday 10 March at the Melbourne Convention Centre.
At a special schools presentation by Sir Paul Nurse, President of The Royal Society, London we heard about how he became a scientist and how his research led to him becoming a Nobel Laureate. This session was followed by Sir Paul’s oration, Controlling How Cells Reproduce.
As an educator and scientist I found the schools session and oration to be wonderfully interesting and exciting and, having been able to share this with senior Preshil students who are studying science, tremendously inspiring.
After the Oration Ed, Hamish and I attended the Graeme Clark Oration Dinner where we conversed with research scientists and met Sir Paul personally.
All in all it was a wonderful evening and I hope the experience inspires the thinking, creative and passionate science students of Preshil who may just be a Nobel Laureate of research in the future.
