Reunion for Past Students Born in the 20s, 30s and 40s
A happy reunion of more than 70 past Preshil pupils, teachers and relatives took place on Monday 27 October in the house at Arlington.
This reunion was especially for students born in the decades of the 20s, 30s and 40s. The intervening years vanished as old friends were discovered. People were made very welcome by present staff and were invited to tour the school and make themselves known to the current crop of children.
Many photos, keepsakes and documents from early times were laid out for people to look at, with the hope of finding names for some of the faces in the early pictures.
The reunion was organised by a small committee headed by Libby Shade (formerly Grierson) and Bronte Howell (current staff Director of Communications). An ongoing program of reunions is being planned, with one for people born in the 50s scheduled in the first half of next year, with a repeat of the 20s-30s-40s later in the year.
Libby has taken up the role of Volunteer Alumni and Archives Coordinator and is working with a small group to plan and furnish a dedicated archives space, and to commence the sorting and indexing of the various documents, objects, media and artefacts that have been collected over the past 80 years in relation to Preshil.
Once this has been achieved, the collection will be available for ready access and for use by researchers to further the aims of Preshil. Our new Alumni Newsletter will be available soon.
